CHICKEN POX SOLUTION
Dear WTG: I’m 63 years old and in reasonably good health and play tennis three times per week. So why don’t I just take two weeks off of work, acquire the coronavirus and just stay home till I’m healthy? I would then have immunity. And I can get the virus when I’m at optimum health.
For example, I could get COVID a year from now, but I will be a year older and I may not be healthy. By that time, I may have quit tennis and have started eating a quart of ice cream per day. I may be 300 pounds by then and rolling around in a HoverRound!
Remember chicken pox when we were younger? If a neighborhood kid got chicken pox, the other parents would take their kids over to play. The reason? So, their children could go ahead and get it while they were young and strong.
In the same line of reasoning why don’t I just go ahead and get COVID while I’m healthy because, who knows? In a year I may have had a cancer diagnosis, be taking chemo, and have a compromised immune system. Signed: Itching to get COVID
Dear ITCHING: There are two reasons for you to NOT go with that plan. First, we do not know whether getting coronavirus gives you immunity and for how long. It would be tragic if you endured two weeks of COVID just to be vulnerable again to it in a few months or a year. Second we do not know the long-term effects of COVID. So, try not to get it, because in ten years we may have learned of respiratory problems, heart disease, or circulatory issues that arise in those who have had coronavirus. Bottom line, this is NOT the chicken pox. Don’t mess with COVID! Here are some suggested products to stay safe and healthy!
