WITHOUT HOPE were it not for JESUS
In the Bible in Psalm 51:5, we read these words, “Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me.” This verse implies that, not only do we sin by choice, it seems to be inborn in our nature to stray from God’s perfect plan for our life. Being sinners by nature means that we are born into a fallen world. We trace our sinful lineage back to the Adam and Eve, the first humans. They also left God’s way. And at birth, coming into a sinful world into a sinful family, we have almost a genetic propensity towards iniquity. For example, just look at a child. You never have to teach them what lying and taking are. They naturally develop the undesirable skills of deception and selfishness. But, being sinful by nature is only part of the curse. Once old enough to be responsible for our choices, we are also sinners willfully, choosing to go our own way rather than God’s way. Truly we would be without hope were it not for the gracious intervention of our Lord, Jesus Christ who forgives all who simply come to Him by faith and trust.
