BREAKING NEWS: 60% THINK GYMS ARE OBSOLETE
It’s true, a recent poll of 2000 Americans found that around sixty percent believe gyms are on the way out. In light of this fact, now is the time to get some simple, inexpensive home exercise equipment and start a simple but effective full body fitness routine as good as good as any you can get in an upscale gym. Why now? The answer is obvious. Because gyms are closed. And when they are open they cost money, the equipment is being used by hundreds of people, and frankly, I’m not comfortable dragging my pilsbury dough boy body in front of a bunch of people more buff than me!
So with that in mind, let me share with you my simple but effective home exercise routine using home equipment. Do this at least three times per week. It’s a complete body workout, and is done totally indoors, so weather is not a factor.
1_ Work out on the elliptical. This gives you the opportunity to warm up for the rest of the routine. If you are doing time, do 30 to 45 minutes at medium resistance. This should burn around 300 to 400 calories.
2_ Ten push ups (full or from knees). Remember this is for Boomers who are around age 60 or above, so don’t over do it! Work up to extra pushups as your body allows.
3_ Ten sit ups. Again, don’t over do this. There are different techniques for sit ups, so start with the easiest for you and work up to extra repetitions as you get more in shape.
4_ Curls using dumbbells. Do five to ten on each arm using a weight heavy enough to provide resistance, but not so heavy that you sacrifice form. Between curls do between five to ten reps using hand grip strengtheners (some great examples are provided below).
5_ Do a few minutes of easy resistance in the elliptical along with some stretches and you’re done for the day! Notice that the only equipment you need is an elliptical, dumb bells, and hand grip strengtheners. Here are a few great examples so spend a few dollars and end a lifetime of payments to a gym!
