As Christians we sometimes struggle with sin. Even the apostle Paul is recorded in the Bible as saying, “I do not understand what I do. The things I want to do, I don’t do them! But instead do the things I hate. For I don’t do the good I wish to do. But the evil things I don’t like…these things I keep on doing! (Romans 7:15, 19).
We have received Christ and have His nature living and moving within us to lead us and empower us. Yet we still have another nature within us. That old sin nature enticing us back to our old ways and attitudes; luring us away from God. So what hope do we have? According to Paul, “Thanks be to God who will deliver me through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 7:25).
