HOW OUR WEBSITE WORKS
Want The Goods features the best gifts and gadgets for folks who want to save the time and effort in determining which products to buy. What makes our website unique, though, is that we also direct people to companies that are wholesome and faith-friendly to find the best products, gifts, and services. So, besides our daily inspirational article and positive news stories, our defining niche is helping folks who visit our web community to shop for great stuff without violating their conscience. You’ve Been Waiting – FINALLY: Our TOP TEN LISTS for CHRISTMAS
This is a new idea and a new website. And, as we build, we need your help as we rank companies on a five-point scale with the number “one” being less wholesome and faith-friendly to the number “five” standing for the most faith-friendly of companies. Click here to go to our Company Rankings.
Ranking companies fairly is sometimes easy, and sometimes harder. For example, a tobacco company like Philip Morris would easily get a low ranking because of the product that it produces. Cigarettes have been proven to cause cancer, and in the past, large tobacco companies marketed their product to young people. Also, it’s an easy decision to give a faith-based, Christian-owned company like Hobby Lobby high marks for being faith friendly.
But other times it’s not easy. Some companies produce wholesome and healthy products, but may give to Planned Parenthood, an organization that supports late-term abortions. And other times a company may profess to be faith-friendly, but then proceed to make misleading claims, produce an inferior product, or even violate international child labor laws.
We try to do our homework but also depend upon members of our community to help us with rankings. So, please feel free to contact us and give us a “heads up” when a company regresses or improves its faith-friendly standing. Sometimes, even an otherwise wholesome company can run advertising with profanity or highly sexualized content, which would produce a lower ranking. On the other hand, companies that begin to support of pro-life causes, or close on Sunday to give families the opportunity to attend church can raise a score.
The bottom line is we are a work in progress, so please help us by letting us know whenever we get something wrong or right. As a company in existence for only a few months we have a long way to go. But our hope is one day soon, we can be your complete source with information about each and every product or company. We want to do the homework so you can be an informed consumer of products and services while not compromising your values.
