I remember eight years old. It was a hard year. I had a third grade teacher named Miss Goff who was an elderly lady with big red eyes. She never called me by my preferred name the entire year, which was a variation on my middle name, insisting instead on always referring to me by my first name. But one thing about mean teachers that I was scared of…my fear of her made me memorize my multiplication tables, and I know them all to this very day. So all in all it was a successful year.
This brings up something about eight-year-old boys. This may be the first year they really have to do hard things; things that are hard even for adults. They are ready for challenges in scholastic achievement, team sports, and emotional development. And even the Christmas gifts you give them should emphasize talent, achievement, activity (both mental and physical), and accomplishment. The list below fits the bill marvelously with awesome toys like the VTech Kidizoom Action Cam, the very creative LEGO Boost Robot Building Set, and the innovative Artie 3000 Coding Robot from Educational Insights.
Our absolute favorite in the list for an eight-year-old boy is the PowerUp 3.0 Original Smartphone Controlled Paper Airplanes Conversion Kit. But, all of the gift ideas below all will help your third grader get to have fun and get past the red-eyed school teachers in his life!
