SALT and LIGHT
It is a blessing to know the Lord, to be forgiven by Jesus Christ, and to have God’s direction and guidance as you go through life. But with that great blessing comes a great responsibility, which is to help others to know and serve the Lord, also.
How do we do this? According to Jesus in the passage of scripture below, it is by being “salt” and “light” in this world. In this bland world believers in the Lord are salt who add zest and flavor. We help people not just to exist, but to truly live by making them thirsty for the life-giving water of Christ.
And in this dark and sometimes scary culture in which we live, followers of Jesus are the light of the world, shining brightly for all to see the way to God who is the light. So, don’t hide or lose your flavor. Be public and positive witness for Jesus Christ and show others the way to Him!
(Matthew 5:13-16) 13 “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. 14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
