QUIT WAFFLING!
God uses certain events and people to draw a line in the sand in our lives. During these times we are challenged. Will we step across that line and fully follow Jesus, or will be continue to waver in our opinion and through indifference, apathy, or procrastination and delay our commitment to him?
The situation was exactly the same on that day around 2000 years ago in our scripture passage when Jesus came to Jerusalem as some tried to hesitate, procrastinate, and delay deciding with questions and doubts. But, neutral you cannot be when it comes to Jesus. The Christ event draws a line in the sand, challenging us to step across and follow Jesus, or to remain lost in trespasses and sins.
(John 7:40-44) 40 On hearing his words, some of the people said, “Surely this man is the Prophet.” 41 Others said, “He is the Messiah.” Still others asked, “How can the Messiah come from Galilee? 42 Does not Scripture say that the Messiah will come from David’s descendants and from Bethlehem, the town where David lived?” 43 Thus the people were divided because of Jesus. 44 Some wanted to seize him, but no one laid a hand on him.
